
JOHN LIENERT founded Elite Youth Sports based on his passion for helping children learn to love sports and do things the right way. During high school, Coach John was a 3-year letterman in basketball and a 2-year letterman in soccer. He played in 3 WPIAL championship games (2 basketball; 1 soccer) during his high school career. Following high school and college, Coach John went on to law school, where he graduated near the top of his class. In addition to his job as a national trial lawyer, Coach John continues to stay connected to the game as an NCAA and PIAA basketball official. He was selected to officiate the 2020 NCAA Division III men’s championship basketball tournament, an honor provided to the top collegiate men’s basketball officials each year. He has also officiated numerous collegiate and high school basketball playoff games, including the 2024 PIAA 5A Boys Western Final (state semifinal) and the 2021 WPIAL 4A Boys Championship game. Coach John serves as Head Coach of the EYS AAU 6th Grade Girls Basketball team, as well as Head Coach of the Iron City Dynamite 11U Girls Softball travel team. Coach John is committed to making sure that every child has an opportunity to learn the basic fundamentals of sports in a fun-filled environment. The EYS staff includes men and women who have played Division I, II, and III basketball, along with former high school coaches and players, who have won numerous WPIAL and PIAA championships. All members of the EYS staff maintain updated clearances required by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for working with children.
